In 2019 Birthland launched as a Oakland based, women of color owned midwifery practice. The practice provides pre and postnatal care, home birth services and supports clients in identifying the best birth option for them.
We believe that the body, mind and spirit are intimately connected and should be nurchured during a pregnancy. Our mission at Birthland is to honor the legacy of midwifery, a tradition by and for the people.
We believe that people deserve options when choosing their birth site and envision a free-standing birthing center in Oakland that centers wrap-around support services. To us, the Birthland is the place where you feel most safe, most respected and most loved.

Our mission at Birthland Midwifery is to honor the legacy of midwifery, a tradition by and for the people. Our wellness approach integrates evidence based care with wellness practices. We believe in shared decision making. Our care is culturally sensitive, inclusive, and affirming of gender and sexuality. Community midwives are an important part of creating racial health equity, and our collaboration with you keeps midwifery a safe, connected, intimate, and transformative experience.
